Toolbar

The toolbar sits at the top of the panel. On the left it shows the current note name (click to rename). On the right:

  • + creates a new note.
  • Browse (folder icon) opens the note viewer.
  • Settings (gear icon) opens module settings.

Editor

The editor is the main area below the toolbar. It is a rich text editor powered by TipTap (ProseMirror). You can type directly, use keyboard shortcuts for formatting, or use the slash command menu.

Supported formatting:

  • Headings (H1 through H6)
  • Bold, italic, code, and strikethrough via standard Markdown shortcuts
  • Bullet lists and numbered lists
  • Blockquotes
  • Code blocks with a copy button
  • Horizontal rules
  • Images and image grids

Content auto-saves to the project after 1.5 seconds of inactivity.

Empty State

When no notes exist in the current project, the editor area shows a centered “Add a note” button. Clicking it creates and opens a new note immediately.

Note Viewer

Click the browse button (folder icon) to open the note viewer. It shows two sections:

  • Project contains notes saved in the current After Effects project.
  • Library contains notes saved to disk that persist across all projects.

Each note card shows its name and a text preview. Hover a card to see action buttons for rename, duplicate, save to library, and delete.

Use the sort dropdown to order by date created, date modified, or alphabetically.

Settings

Click the gear icon in the toolbar to open settings. Settings let you configure editor font size, spellcheck, placeholder text, note naming prefix, default grid columns, and image storage behavior. See Settings Reference for the complete list.
